Why Us?
We are a community dedicated to child-led, play-based learning. We use nature, natural cycles + seasons, real life skills and special interests as the guides for our learning journey.
By following a child’s interests and incorporating them into the learning process, we can help them develop a love of learning that will stay with them throughout their lives. When children are given the freedom to explore and learn at their own pace, they are more likely to retain the information they learn and apply it in meaningful ways.
Incorporating nature and the changing seasons provides endless opportunities for learning. From observing the growth or changes of plants and animals, to practice identifying in the outdoors and learning about the natural world around us, there are so many ways to make learning come alive.
By focusing on real life skills, we can help children develop the practical skills they’ll need to be successful in the world. From cooking and gardening, to budgeting and time management, these skills will serve them well in all areas of their lives.
Wonder + Wander
In 2023, we started a FB group for parents/caregivers in the Spokane area who wanted to intentionally get outside with their kiddo(s) more + also utilize the free resources and events that the community has to offer
(+ that many don’t even know about! I sure didn’t!)
We started planning + hosting weekly purposeful outdoor play. Weekly outdoor meet-ups are planned (in our FB Group) in the eastern WA + north Idaho area!
We are currently building this blog to be an extensive library of free, secular, educational resources and activity ideas!
(If you know of any free secular resources I don’t have listed – please share it!)
HOWEVER, in the background we are also working toward becoming a parent-organized homeschool co-op!
(SO – If you have any interest in being a Leader – whether you’re in the INW and want to plan activities here in the area- or somewhere else entirely and want to start your own Wonder +Wander Chapter, contact us!!!)
